
Carolyn Van De Velde
Concert Master

Carolyn Van De Velde is a professional violinist and educator living in Madison, Wisconsin. She is currently pursuing her DMA in violin performance at The University of Wisconsin-Madison and studies with David Perry. In Madison, Carolyn enjoys working as a leader with her fellow graduate students in the UW Symphony Orchestra and is also a member of the Rabin Graduate Student Quartet, where she extensively studies chamber music with the ProArte Quartet. She has a small studio of violin and viola students and has performed with the Madison Symphony Orchestra on multiple occasions. She has been a member of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra since 2019, and has played in many Midwest orchestras including Peoria Symphony Orchestra, Heartland Festival Orchestra, LaCross Symphony Orchestra, and Chicago Civic Orchestra. Carolyn received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and also completed her Artistic Diploma in Vienna, Austria at the Vienna Konservatorium, where she studied with Barbara Gozynska. Her other principle teachers have included Stefan Milenkovich, John MacFarlane and Michael Hining. She has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Joshua Bell, Yo-Yo Ma, Michael Bublé, and Hamilton’s René Elise Goldsberry. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and playing with her rescue puppy, Winston.
